Meet Dr. Christopher Bissada
Dr. Christopher Bissada, D.D.S., M.D.S., spent the first half of his life in Ohio, where his father was a periodontist. He began his undergraduate education at Case Western Reserve University studying chemistry and biology. He remained in Cleveland, at Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1997. While in Dental School his skills were recognized when he won the ‘Excellence in Endodontics Award’ for his graduating class. His pursuit of advanced education led him to the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where he completed his residency in Endodontics in addition to earning a post doctoral Masters degree of Dental Science.
After being in private practice for eight years, Dr. Bissada’s commitment to lifelong learning prompted him to advance his skills in implant dentistry by attending a rigorous two-year dental implant and bone grafting fellowship at New York University.
Dr. Bissada’s roles in research, academia, and teaching at Case Western, the University of Pittsburgh, and New York University instilled a passion for the field of endodontics that led him to feel that sharing his knowledge should be a part of his career. This sense led to a faculty appointment at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. As a part time instructor, Dr. Bissada is honored to help mentor the next generation of endodontists, teaching some of the clinical intricacies, that define an exceptional practitioner, to the doctors that have been accepted to complete a residency program in Harvard’s Endodontic Program.
Throughout his academic pursuits, Dr. Christopher Bissada’s exceptional aptitude was noticed by his mentors at every level of his advanced education. At the end of dental school, Dr. Bissada’s skill and promise were so apparent that Dr. Grady, a distinguished clinical endodontic instructor, proactively extended an invitation to join his practice. Similarly, recognizing Dr. Bissada’s burgeoning talent, Dr. Wallace, the director of his endodontic residency program offered an employment position to work as an endodontist in his endodontic practice. The pattern of recognition continued with Dr. Tarnow, the world famous director of the NYU implant program, who personally offered Dr. Bissada a position to work in his own private practice. These invitations are a testament to Dr. Bissada’s exceptional capabilities, as those who mentored and observed his professional growth so closely, were eager to integrate his talents into the fabric of their own practices. Dr. Bissada’s desire to live near Boston, caused him to decline all of these esteemed job offers.
His leadership and service resonate through his tenure as Chairman of the Boston Metropolitan District Dental Society and President of the Norfolk-Parkway Study Club, where he has led multiple terms. His commitment to the public, and his profession, is evident through his two-decade-long involvement with the District Dental Society Peer Review Board and his prior role as a Delegate to the Massachusetts Dental Society. Further extending his impact, Dr. Bissada took pride in being a Director on the Mass Bay Community College Foundation Board.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Bissada finds his greatest joy in life’s simpler pleasures—engaging in strategic battles over the chessboard, hiking nature trails with his family, and cherishing the company of friends. His personal and professional life is a testament to his belief in continuous learning, helping others, and the pursuit of excellence in all endeavors.
